I’m Tom, a writer with a passion for the environment, and I’m here to offer an alternative window into the world of conservation.
While I’ve spent most of my days whiling away the hours attempting to write funny scripts or working in theatre, I’ve always maintained a love for the natural world. More recently, as that world declines around us, I’ve noticed that many of us have become overwhelmed or alienated by the challenges it presents.
Thus I’ve resolved to get proactive and do my best to show you just how easy it is to make a difference!
With that in mind, this blog is for those of us who want to make that difference but don’t know where to start; I’m by no means an expert but by God if I won’t pretend to be one! But that’s kind of the point – you don’t have to be an expert to do your bit.
Hence, while you’ll occasionally find me chatting about the biggies like Climate Change and Ocean Plastics, mostly this blog’ll discuss the little things that you, sitting at home watching Gogglebox, can do to help save the planet.
These’ll include things like how to build a pond in your back garden (or indeed someone else’s, though this requires a great deal of stealth and a clean criminal record), how you can volunteer with your local conservation trust, which sustainable dental floss to choose or even which shop-bought potatoes are best to grow your own!
Essentially, we’re gonna save the planet one illegal pond, one gleaming smile and one overripe potato at a time. Sound good? Touch and go, isn’t it, but dive in and have a root around in case you find something of use anyway. Worst case scenario I’ll get a view or two to add to the hundreds my mum provides…
